Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

This has been out for a week, so I'm not whitefonting:

On the Black Canary/Green Arrow wedding....

Uh, did they kill Ollie AGAIN?!?

Strike that -- did they KILL OLLIE?!?!

Also, WTF?!?

I mean -- Ollie attacks Dinah IN BED, on their WEDDING NIGHT. First of all, I didn't think Ollie was capable of doing anything near a bed other than fucking.

But mostly -- WTF?!? Was it really Ollie, and if so, did he get Manchurian Candidated at some point? (If so, when?) Was it a clone/shapeshifter/Clayface?

And, hello -- we're talking Black goddamn Canary here -- trained by the world's best martial artists, in addition to possessing the canary cry. Your new husband pulls a pretty lame-looking knife on you, and you....do what? Use the canary cry? Judo chop?

You STAB HIM IN THE NECK WITH AN ARROW?!?!?

If it was real!Ollie, is he dead? And if so, does he get a frequent flyer card, or what? (Also, if he *is* really dead, I'ma be PISSED.)

I have huge, huge, HUGE problems with this. (That may be self-evident.)

Also, Judd Winick is a hack. The only character I've actually seen him write consistently well, with a *good* handle on the character's history, is Jason Todd, of all people.

D.C. is really really really disappointing me.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

He did right by Kyle, too, and his first couple of years with Ollie were great.

Like certain other writers, he does way better when not spread thinly on toast. (I've got this whole Marmite based theory about writing. Err. Don't ask.)

I'm assuming shape-shifter type thing and not actual dead Ollie, because you can only flog a dead horse so much. Also, the most surprising thing to me was the lack of caring I felt. At no point did I think the dead would stick.

"Remember the words of the poet: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn." Joss Whedon (on Bronzebeta.com)

Hi All! Thanks, Laga, for the welcome. Found the Buffistas (sheepish grin) through _WIll the Vampire People Please Leave the Lobby_ -- a great read! I've been carrying on (as I will) with the recycling actors line of questioning over at slayalive.com, and it's been interesting. Thanks for the phrasing "coming at the Whedonverse assbackwards"! Yes, I watched Firefly later (grumble grumble darn Fox for not advertising Firefly and for screwing it all up.....etc), after Buffy and Angel ended. I certainly don't posit nefarious schemes a-dancing in Whedon's head by doing this, but I find it interesting how watching a character in one role can affect the reading of other roles.... especially in a particular genre and sub-genre (is Whedon a sub-genre??). Starting to blabber now....

BTW, I was surprised at the length of the list of recycled actors once you get going at figuring out who has been recycled....

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Now tagless for your comfort.

New Comic and Pie Day!

Buffy #7, Supernatural Origins #5 and Cream Cheese Pumpkin Pie.

I think that Faith is going to be able to pull this off. But she's going to be tempted. Bonding with another slayer who wants to kill Buffy. Tough choices are ahead. I also think they're dragging Giant!Dawn's story out too long. It's getting annoying.
