You're thinking of the shorts -- after the pilot, there were a half-dozen or so shorts on Liquid Television, and then it was spun off into a separate half-hour program. All of that stuff is on one of the disks.

It seems purposefully byzantine

Yes! Er, but if that isn't your thing, I believe that the first few episodes are fairly straightforward compared to what comes later on. So yeah, if you're not enjoying what you've seen so far it's probably not going to improve.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

From what I recall of it, people who require sensical plots that are explained within the narrative for their TV enjoyment should run far, far away.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I adored Aeon Flux. However, that was probably during the phase when I thought emulating chemical alteration was a good thing. Plot? Who needs a plot?

However, I currently have Charlize Thereon Aeon Flux hair, so I am probably not the most objective person to ask.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's gone back to Netflix today.

The Aeon Flux shorts on Liquid Television were so great. NSM the show, IMO.

I also have Aeon Flux hair. Yay for points!

I think when I was a teen Aeon Flux was the closest thing on TV to Heavy Metal magazine (or indeed the eponymous movie) for my graphics-hungry brain to consume. These days stylized cartoons are everywhere and most of them learned a trick or two from Aeon Flux. Going back and trying to get that feeling back is kinda like watching Battlestar Galactica TOS after having experienced the Sci Fi reimagining. It gets me in my primal urges but not in my intellectual center.

This is a fair statement, I think. I was really captivated by the highly stylized look at the time, but yeah, things have moved on since then. Now we have things like characterization and plot, too!

Also, whoo GC! Doesn't it totally rock as a hairstyle?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think back in the Liquid Television days they only showed a half an episode at a time. Maybe in small doses it was better. Has anybody else tried watching it? I'm 1.5 episodes in and thinking about stopping. It seems purposefully byzantine while lacking in actual plot. Is it just me?

As Strega notes, the longer half hour episodes are easier to follow and really very good. Very dark and almost like The Prisoner. But they're very coherent and fascinating. Some of them still stick with me.
