Hey, did we know about this?
Superman is dead—or is he? All will be revealed at Comic-Con’s world premiere of DC Comics, Warner Bros. Home Video, and Warner Bros. Animation’s Superman Doomsday. It’s the highly anticipated first DC Universe made-for-DVD release presented by Warner Premiere and produced by Warner Bros. Animation. Inspired by the best-selling graphic novel of all time, Superman Doomsday is an epic tale of heroism and tragedy, sacrifice and redemption. The film is rated PG-13 for action violence. The voice cast is led by Adam Baldwin (Serenity, Chuck) as Superman, Anne Heche (Men in Trees) as Lois Lane, and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Lex Luthor.

Huh.
Sounds like an Andrea Romano cast -- she's damn good as a voice director.
Adam Baldwin (Serenity, Chuck) as Superman
Yum.
James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Lex Luthor.
"Superrrrrrman, yourrrrrr days arrrrrre numberrrrrred!"
I mean, seriously -- James Marsters? Come on -- the One True Lex will always be Clancy Brown.
the One True Lex will always be Clancy Brown.
Seriously. The best characterization of Luthor ever. And the last episode of JLU? He takes a break to change into a clean suit, and then takes down Darkseid. Fucking badass.
Much to my surprise, 'Martha Washington Dies' came out yesterday. That seems incredibly fast since I first spotted it in Previews.
Anyway, my quick review in white font:
Unsatisfactory. Even knowing it was a meager 24 pages didn't prepare me for just how short the strip was. It feels like it should have appeared in one of the Dark Horse Presents issues. Dave Gibbons art: Good in places, a little more stiff than usual in others. Maybe he didn't like the script. Which brings us to... Frank Miller. Hey, Frank, thanks for totally NOT trying. Really, I get the impression that Dark Horse asked you to wrap up the saga and you weren't really interested so you did it as quickly as you could. The phrase 'unseemly haste' comes to mind.

(not really spoilery, but references Pete's whitefonted review,so...)
Are you really all that surprised? Did you read DK2? I have never seen a crappier, dashed off, piece-of-shit ripoff than that! Pages of super-sluts? Gateway pages for no reason, except possibly as filler? An ending that feels like "...and then, uh, it stopped. And Batman said something kinda grim. Hey, pie!"
Social satire? Not so much, Frank. Political commentary? Yeah, uh...not so much, Frank.
And fucking Captain Marvel is 1) old and b) DIES?! Because he and Billy are different people? And Billy died of unspecified unhealthiness some time ago? Whuh? What the--WHAT?!
Fuck Frank Miller. He's the Eddie Money of comics; used to be hot shit, but burnt out fast and limps along on his laurels.
Fuck Frank Miller.
Thus endeth the rant.
MM: I succeeded in wiping the memory of DK2 from my mind some time ago so I guess I left my fresh, pink, expectations open to be fucked by Miller ALL. OVER. AGAIN.
I'm not even an optimist but I really wanted this to be a valuable addition to the series.
Pete:
Tattoo it on your newly scrubbed, pink expectations: "Except for Frank Miller. Fuck Frank Miller."
