I loved Babs as batgirl, I really did. but I OMGLOVEFLAILFLAIL her as Oracle, and if DC thinks they can take that whole history away and keep any respect from me, they can suck it.

Oracle just rocks and I agree - I loved Barbara Gordon as Batgirl but I love it more when that's her past history that informs who she is as Oracle.

I don't understand why DC doesn't just pull a Marvel and make their equivalent of the "Ultimate" Universe. You can do your "young/hip/modern/what-ever-buzzword you use now" revamp of your iconic characters for the folks that are into that, while not pissing off all your existing fans and tossing out decades worth of development of these characters.
Or does that just make too much sense for DC?
