It's not. Damn, but those are detailed.
Other Media 2: It's Astounishing!
Discussion of comics, graphic novels, and more. Except for capes. No capes!
Please use spoiler font for new releases until after the weekend following release.
Yes, the graphic novel has all the cover art included - yay!
I noticed that lack of 'Who Watches The Watchmen' in the Sally Jupiter image too. But I was assuming that it was supposed to be an old photograph? From the days when she was a superhero? Whilst the 'Who Watches The Watchmen' thing is supposed to be in the present time?
(Alternatively, might it be included in one of the newspaper articles in the background?)
...and how totally awesome does Night Owl look? In the comic, there wasn't this kind of glamour going on - quite the reverse. It's odd to see him looking all Super and Badass.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the Comedian, right? Whom I didn't particularly take a shine to in the book, but I fear that I may be a little more inclined to be forgiving in the face of his hottitude...

He is.
I'm itching to re-read. As soon as Pete's done with his re-read, natch. (As he has our copy.)
Fay, did you see the trailer?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the Comedian, right?
Yes, although I keep thinking he's Iron Man Robert Downey Jr.
Sally Jupiter
And oh my god, Carla Gugino! I've had the hots for her for a LONG time, ever since she was in the BBC version of The Buccaneers.
Ha! I take it all back!
If you look at the large version of Sally Jupiter's poster, in the background there's a bookshelf, and you can see that there's a volume of Juvenal on the shelf.
Juvenal's Satire VI is where "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" comes from. (Which translates to "Who will watch the watchmen?")
And THAT level of detail? KICKS ALL ASS.

Funnily enough, someone else thought that after seeing the trailer. It's that shot with the flamethrower that does it.

I'm done. Jilli's nearly done. It was interesting to note the coloring and how over saturated the darker colors were. I saw a more recent version of the collected version and they'd balanced the colors better. Of course, the oversized Absolute Watchmen that came out last year had completely new color work. There's apparently a new hardback version releasing soon and if it has the brand new coloring I will probably pick it up.
Ah, buffistas. Where geekiness and obsessiveness coalesce into one beautiful package.
It's that shot with the flamethrower that does it.
Yup.
(Relatedly, Iron Man is at the second-run theater now; maybe I can get The Boy to go see it [again] tonight.)
And in other comics news, I'm so ready to break up with DC. Blue Beetle is about the only title that I consistently like any more. (Although they just sent Power Girl back to Earth-2 in the JSA Annual, which seems interesting. Though I don't hold much hope that they won't fuck it up.)
Oh my god, those posters are *stunning*.

Damn, good catch! That's fantastic.

I noticed in my reread last week that a lot of the colors bled over their outlines -- is that what you're talking about? I'll have to check out a newer edition now and see how different it looks to my untrained eye.
Juvenal's Satire VI is where "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"
Wow, that is seriously impressive.
