A 112 page annual?
Considering one of the problems they always had before was the long gaps between issues, I wonder how this is going to help their circulation.
But I will be lined up for this annual event. It should be a summer annual, though, dammit! So you can laze around on long summer days reading the same comic for more than 10 minutes.
I mentioned something like that a while ago on the thread. Basically, the comic book format is dying; publishers like Fantagraphics are moving entirely to the trade paperback (or hardcover) format. Top Shelf is starting to experiment with web comics.
Did you see that PW also has a piece on IDW's new line of children's comics?
Anyone else reading RASL?
Read #1, have #2 on hold...
Yeah, I've read #1 & #2. I'm semi-interested in it, and if it was a large publisher I might just wait for a collection, but since it's Jeff Smith, I'm trying to keep him in art supplies.
I loved Bone, and I suspect I'll love this in time, but it's such early days right now.
I just got 2 today. I'm loving the sparseness of it, but the lack of much dialogue means the issues go by WAY TOO FAST. I'm reminded why I normally stick to TPBs - single issues just wind up frustrating me with their shortness.
Yeah, same for me, which is why I'd wait for the collection if it wasn't a small publisher.
What is RASL?
I picked up my comic books today, which included the two most recent issues of Angel and the most recent Dresden Files.
Angel is finally starting to get interesting for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Whoever said upthread the Murphy looks wrong was right. She looks too harsh. Isn't Murphy mostly described as looking too soft and feminine to be as tough as she is? The female zoologist reminds me of Fred from Angel. I like the storyline and it works really well visually as well as story-wise.
