Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins. Twenty years old. Born on the fourth of July — and don't think there weren't jokes about that my whole life, mister, 'cause there were. 'Who's our little patriot?' they'd say, when I was younger and therefore smaller and shorter than I am now.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

This is, admittedly, a half-baked idea but I still suspect there's something to it.

I think you're on to something.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I think the giant-size Astounishing that comes out on Thursday is Joss' last issue before Warren Ellis takes over.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Frankenbuddha, that's what my friendly local comic book store woman person behind the counter said, too. Except for the Warren Ellis part. She said Terry Moore and wikipedia is saying the same.

Huh, I wonder if that's a recent change, because I thought I'd seen that in wikipedia (the Warren Ellis part).

Terry Moore's taking over Runaways. Warren Ellis is taking over Astonishing X-Men. I can't really imagine Moore writing for X-Men.

The first issue of DC's Final Crisis was out yesterday, and WTF? man -- they killed Martian Manhunter! Well, you know, for whatever definition of "killed" DC uses these days. But still!

Also, the whole "Batman, R.I.P" storyline is (1) excessively contrived, even for DC, and (2) inevitably going to end up being lame as hell; I read somewhere that the "R.I.P." doesn't even stand for Rest In Peace, which is exactly the lame sort of literalistic bait-and-switch DC has been pulling lately.

Blue Beetle still rocks my socks.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

  • Final Crisis #1: kills Martian Manhunter

  • Final Crisis #2: kills Jimmy Olsen

  • Final Crisis #3: Revivifies Martian Manhunter, and then kills him off again.

  • Final Crisis #4: kills Santa Claus

  • Final Crisis #5: kills Deadman (now even more deader!)
