So, yesterday I'm driving down for a quick overnight to DC for dinner and a show with a couple of friends. I'm calling one of my friends (hands-free) to let her know I'm on my way. Suddenly, Darth Vader pops out at the stoplight and holds his hand up.
Me: "Hey! Darth Vader is in the intersection telling me to stop!"
Friend: "... okaaay..."
Me: "No, really! Really good costume, too... but why is... dammit! I forgot about Free Comic Book Day! I'm passing my comic book store right now."
Friend: "..."
Friend: "Maybe you should stop. What's fifteen minutes? Also, who are you?"
I didn't actually stop, because I was running super late. I waved to Darth as I passed, though.
Ha! At my comic shop there were two stormtroopers. It was adorable seeing the kids getting their pic taken and watching traffic practically come to a standstill as everyone looked and waved.
We hit 4 comic shops yesterday. What's with this new trend of only 2-4 books per shop? LAME!
Hey Glamcookie, lame it may be, but the retailers have to pay for all of those goodies. And if I remember correctly, they have buy by the box, which has a seelection of material, but they don't get to chose what is in the box. So if they want a lot of the DC or Marvel FCBs, they have buy multiple boxes and live with having tons of Archie comics...
I stayed in and missed free comics day. I'm willing to bet when I go next week, they'll have leftovers. Which surprises me because as far as I know, they are the only comic shop in town. There used to be another one on campus, but it packed it in 5 or more years ago.

I went to my shop about an hour before they closed, and the comic-book guy was telling people to take as many as they wanted, so he didn't have to put them away (because the free books were on the rack where new releases usually are).
Of course, by that point, all that was left was Jughead, Bongo (which is crazy, because that shit was GOOD), Dan Dare/Stranded, Transformers, and a couple of other random ones. I only got Tiny Titans because my comic-book guy set it aside for me since he knows I'm a DC girl.
New Buffy AND new Angel this week, right?
I just reread Buffy Season 8 #1, and the picture on Buffy's tank top sure looks like the Serenity logo. Did anyone else notice that?
There's a bunch of shout outs like that in the series. I'm sure Xander is wearing a Can't Stop The Serenity tshirt or some such at some point.
I can't remember that, but I do remember that in one of the issues, one of the Slayers was reading Fray.

I saw that! I seem to have missed the Serenity shout-outs.
