What pisses me off most about killing off Superboy was that they killed him off right during a lawsuit with the Siegels over the rights to the characters. I have no illusions about the amount of corporate cynicism at TimeWarner.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I suspect the Earth-Prime Superboy becoming a murderous emo caricature that Will. Not. Go. Away. around the same time stems from a grudge over that lawsuit.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

YAY! I know one thing I'm doing tomorrow.

We hit stop #1 and got a cool ass sketch from Tim Sale of the slayer from Righteous from Tales of the Slayers.

The Bongo Simpsons comic for Free Comic Book Day was actually pretty damn funny. It had a shoutout to the X-Men and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, plus a manga take on the Simpsons that made me laugh my ass off.

Tiny Titans #1 is super cute.

Archie's Pal Jughead is....typical Jughead.

And the Dan Dare/Stranded 2-in-1 is just confusing, since I don't read them and have no idea who the characters are.

So, yesterday I'm driving down for a quick overnight to DC for dinner and a show with a couple of friends. I'm calling one of my friends (hands-free) to let her know I'm on my way. Suddenly, Darth Vader pops out at the stoplight and holds his hand up.

Me: "Hey! Darth Vader is in the intersection telling me to stop!"

Friend: "... okaaay..."

Me: "No, really! Really good costume, too... but why is... dammit! I forgot about Free Comic Book Day! I'm passing my comic book store right now."

Friend: "..."

Friend: "Maybe you should stop. What's fifteen minutes? Also, who are you?"

I didn't actually stop, because I was running super late. I waved to Darth as I passed, though.

Ha! At my comic shop there were two stormtroopers. It was adorable seeing the kids getting their pic taken and watching traffic practically come to a standstill as everyone looked and waved.

We hit 4 comic shops yesterday. What's with this new trend of only 2-4 books per shop? LAME!

Remember, remember/the fifth of November/the Gunpowder Treason and Plot/I see no reason/Why Gunpowder Treason/Should ever be forgot.

Hey Glamcookie, lame it may be, but the retailers have to pay for all of those goodies. And if I remember correctly, they have buy by the box, which has a seelection of material, but they don't get to chose what is in the box. So if they want a lot of the DC or Marvel FCBs, they have buy multiple boxes and live with having tons of Archie comics...

I stayed in and missed free comics day. I'm willing to bet when I go next week, they'll have leftovers. Which surprises me because as far as I know, they are the only comic shop in town. There used to be another one on campus, but it packed it in 5 or more years ago.
