I first started reading the b.org in the fall of 2002. I finally registered in order to be able to use the magic of "read new." It was several months before I delurked, and it took me a while to start posting regularly. Just reading was an extraordinary gift to me during a very bad time.
Goodbye and Good Riddance 2006: You're ON THE LIST!!!
Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2006? Don't think we've forgotten about you.
I think if my child were in the hospital, I wouldn't even remember to lock the car door, let alone remember to send a Secret Santa gift to an invisible friend.
Thank you...I was lucky I knew you well enough to know you'd like Lush. It was something I could order and let them pack and ship for me.
The week I was in the hospital with Ellie, I was sure this Christmas would just suck but it has turned out to be lots of fun and very relaxing. I've always sort of thought that people who were unwilling to move away from family were a bit weak in some way, but this entire experience has made me appreciate the value of having family close by. I missed them so much while Ellie was hospitalized and they were so wonderful once we got home.
Ooh, ooh, Java cat, I know where: ALASKA!!!
Duuuude, I'll take you up on it!
How many registered Buffistas are there now? I clicked on a few new-to-me people's names last night and it looks like it's just under 1,800? If yes, wow! That's a nice small town right there.
I have a friend who's registered, but no longer reads here. If there are any other Alaskans on the board, I don't think they've delurked.
So, when are you coming? I need some cleaning notice, and I do have the futon booked a few times this spring, although I do have a couch as well. Other than that, it's yours!
I think the second thing I posted was a spoiler that burned Dana's eyes.
I think in one of my first posts I spelled Betsy name wrong. And I think I spoiled someone in another.
I delurked in early 2001 I think, on TT. I think Tom W. delurked on the same day. And I would swear most of you were already there.
libkitty, stay tuned, and thanks!
That's some nice archive there, DX. I didn't see my name in WX at all but now I can't remember if I used the same name or not and I'm not going to read them all to figure it out. 'Twas #18 on Natter #1. (4 years sure go by fast!) Discovering the board was like, I don't know, finding fairies dancing in the moonlight. Like Beej, I kind of just plunged in and was entranced that such a cool thing existed.

There's another Alaskan actually named, "AnotherAlaskan", but s/he's been scarce.
I used to constantly check merriam webster to make sure I was spelling and using my words appropriately
Hee. So did I. Well, sometimes I still do... but not so often anymore. Especially since Firefox checks my spelling for me now. Though I'm not using Firefox at the moment.
I can't remember how I found this place, but it was already the Phoenix by the time I found it. It was an article somewhere that eventually clicked through to b.org. I think it was around January of BtVS's final season (I don't know what year that is). Didn't delurk until probably the week of the final episode. I hate most of my posts from about the first year. Maybe more. I sounded hyper, overly-eager, and weird(er). I still hate some of my posts. I'd never been part of an online community until the b.org.
I delurked during "The Great Get Nilly to the States" drive back in 2004, which was also right before the DC F2F. Luckily, I only walked by the guac and managed not to make an ass of myself at the F2F. I'm so very glad I did, considering I haven't been able to make it to one since. I've met some very wonderful people who have been a terrific support system when whinging seems to be on infinite loop. There are a bunch more of you I hope to meet soonish.
I'm not in the right headspace to deconstruct 2006 at the moment. The end has sucked giant monkey balls, and coloured my view of the whole year. Suffice it to say, I shall be very, very glad when it's over (for me and a lot of other people.)
I'm horrified that my gift will be so late...given that part of it is Xmas themed, dangit. But is should arrive tomorrow, Monday at the latest. Last time I trust holiday shipping promises! I'm going to shoot for the Black Friday post next time.
Pshaw! It got here today! I think it was Stephanie who mentioned Epiphany on January 6th -- Italians consider it the real holiday as well. Therefore, it is not late. And it came with extra exclamation points! I opened a box full of goodies and drooled over: beautiful capiz shell earrings, a gorgeous bronze metallic ball candle, a Lush Best Wishes gift set, a Tea & Sympathy bath bomb (so perfect), and 2 packets of Moss Rose seeds. I can't wait to plant them this spring! Thank you so much, Beej. It's all lovely and perfect.
On the more procrastinaty side of things, my SS gift has yet to go out. The plan is to hit the post office this weekend. I hope my giftee won't be too upset.

Actully, I think that's libkitty's friend.
