Goodbye and Good Riddance 2006: You're ON THE LIST!!!

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2006? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

Our wings are not tired.

Shiny kitties! Very cute. Yay for the family expansion!

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I found the buffistas back on TT and posted occasionally under a different pseud (don't recall which one). I lurked more often than not, but followed the migration to WX and then here. I officially delurked when the Nilly-tour planning started. That whole experience really inspired me and made me truely realize what an amazing group of people hang out here. I feel lucky to have met y'all.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I joined after everyone had moved here, I think. I know I joined in 2002, but I don't think I delurked until sometime in 2003 toward the end of season 6 of Buffy. I don't remember how I found it, but I was sure glad I did.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Love that picture of Dougal; it's got a real "At last, Mr. Bird, we meet again, but this time I shall be the victor!" vibe to it.

Because books.

I delurked in February 2004, after not lurking very long at all. I found the board after hearing mentions of it on the Bronze: Beta, which had been my only online home till then, and felt like I'd wandered into heaven. All the different threads with different purposes! A writing thread! A book thread! I was so thrilled. And the people here were so smart and funny, there was no going back.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

what an amazing group of people hang out here. I feel lucky to have met y'all.

Can't be said enough.

I stumbled on the TT threads at some point around the fourth or fifth thread, delurked a while after. It was at WX that it really became a big part of my life though, and I've never looked back.

Compassionately intolerant

I came to b.org through fireflyfans. I'd never even heard of an online community, or fandom, and didn't lurk at all. Perhaps to my detriment. I was just so thrilled to find so many like-minded, smart, funny, caring people all in one place. Lots of buffistas speak of their other online associations or other fandoms and...despite reading such lovely stories as the recent Flanvention miracle...I just can't imagine any other group being quite like this one!

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

And all I can say seeing those early posts is that I find myself exceedingly annoying. I mean, really! It's as bad as reading old journals!

Heh -- this is why I don't go looking for old posts of mine. I was *really* irritating back in 2001. I'm kind of amazed anyone was willing to talk to me at all.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I had the same problem with myself when I reread an old natter thread recently. Gross!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm kind of amazed anyone was willing to talk to me at all.

It was surprising to meet you in person because you were so different from the online you at that time.
