"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Good luck with your friend too Nora. My thing is, this girl screwed me over without so much as a "Hey, I'm sorry about this, but..." So it's not the kind of thing where you send a card saying, "I miss you!" and my icy heart melts. Break my trust, break the friendship.

I had a bit more to say about that than I thought.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I got jewelry, perfume, tea, a journal, my Powerbook, and a Saints win. Also got very drunk and played basketball in high heeled boots with my lawyer.

Oh, I'm with you. I will cut people off. But, there are some people who I have cut off who I would not be unhappy to hear from. It won't be the same, but we don't have to never see each other. Unless, of course, your "gesture" involves a craft party for which you want me to pay for the materials. What is with that? When did it become okay to ask people to pay to come to your event?

umm, sorry. personal issue.

I have a couple of people like that, but I don't consider that really cutting them off, just not really making an effort to keep up with them. Those I wouldn't mind hearing from.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DJ!!

I've had to cut people out of my life. And there are others that I would like to cut out of my life, but for other reasons, can't. I just limit my contact with them as much as possible. It just gets to a point where if the contributions to my life are more negative than positive, there's no reason to keep that negativity in my life. Sucks.

Do you ever get the impression that those people see a positive for themselves in the relationship--and more than a selfish positive, such as "I love her, she's such a wonderful audience for my egomania"? I suspect there's a fine line between actively trying to maintain communication and being perceived as a stalker.

Not Aimee, but yeah, I think those people think the relationship is a positive one for them, though it probably is selfish even if they don't think of it that way.

Most defintely, connie. I imagine if I were to cut off communication with one person right now, they would not understand and it would be completely out fo the blue. "But...but...but..." And the thing is, I don't think that they would ever see the other side.
