Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Which would mean that people who, it would seem, *weren't* stupid in 2004 -- people who the Freepers would have approved of in 2004 -- have now suddenly become stupid in the eyes of the Freepers.

I would just like to point out that that's ridiculous, because how could a person become LESS informed over two years? Clearly the people who voted R two years ago have become less stupid and more informed. It's the only explanation.

What is even happening?

I have read some RIdiculous and easily as vile things on liberal blogs over the past 6 years.

No kidding. Neither republican nor democrat has a monopoly on the crazy. I try not to froth. It's hard sometimes, but really, it's just messy and looks bad on me.

Yes. Me, too.

I would agree, but I'd argue that there's more of the crazy, the hate, on Republican blogs.

Nah. You just don't find it compelling in the same way.

I was physically and psychically unable to cast my vote for Kerry in '06, in part, because of the hate I was seeing from my fellow Democrats. Now, I live in Massachusetts, so I has as much reason to think he'd win Massachusetts and her electoral college votes, as I do to expect the earth to keep turning (which was the only reason I could use my vote as a protest). But liberals are no less vile. And when they're vile, they disappoint me more, just the same way I'm much more upset when my own children act up, than I am when someone else's child acts up. It's a You Ought to Know Better thing, for me. I expect more from my own. If I weren't so inert, I would have changed my voter registration to Independent. I still expect I will someday, when I have to go to Town Hall for something. I just haven't had to go to Town Hall for the past two years.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Right?

Ann, that's a ferret.

the sons were talking about how they had to let people know about their dad -- he listens to Sinatra and Motown

So do I (though not at the moment). But I doubt they'd vote for me for dogcatcher.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I thought "well, at least he has decent taste in music. still wouldn't vote for you, motherfucker"

Steele had some excellent advertising people, that's for sure. He had the usual boring ads as well, but that whole series of quirky ones seemed quite effective in what they were trying to do (introduce him to the voters as a warm fuzzy absent the issues.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Speaking of being informed, this is a fucking awesome idea for a course.

What is even happening?

I just find the lack of logic funny, is all. Not the hate.

Oh see now, I can find the hate funny, or at least the craxy. Maybe because I don't identify with either extreme. I don't know.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

But liberals are no less vile.

You don't see many liberals exhibiting the same homophobia many Republicans do. And I have yet to see a liberal blogger talking about how great it'd be if terrorists nuked some red-state city.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Naderites still trying to sell the "there's no difference between 'em" meme

Are there any of those left? (Besides Nader, I mean.)

Well, there's me.
