for Buffistas who rent: approximately how much of your monthly income do you spend on rent?
Even after the roommate's contribution, we pay nearly half of the takehome for rent. This does not include utilities. Then there's food and drugs and credit card bills and gas for the car . . .
This conversation brought to you by the Chicago Transit Authority, whose buses running south on Lakeshore Drive were 25 minutes late this morning, which allowed shrift too much time to fret sans coffee.
Speaking of pay - our accountant asked my boss to make some changes to the way he does payroll. So I get paid $0.02 more each month!
Maybe I'll save those extra pennies for a few years and buy me a candy bar....
I pay 31%, with two flatmates. If I were to try to live alone, I think I'd be a lot closer to 45%.
I was just telling a neighbor: with 2 flatmates, I am totally okay with cable + internet = $90. Paying that by myself? I might end up cable-free.
So I get paid $0.02 more each month!

Seven-and-a-half cents doesn't mean a thing.
But give it to me every hour,
Forty hours every week,
That's enough for me to be
Livin' like a king!

Speaking of saving, I need to get around to buying a Chicago Card, because saving 50¢ a day eventually leads to something significant.
Also, for Buffistas who rent: approximately how much of your monthly income do you spend on rent? And how much is too much?
I pay 30% of my monthly take-home in rent. Which works pretty well, it's the 20% on gas that kills me.
Mine is almost exactly a third of my take home, maybe a smidge more. Why the hell am I so broke all the time?
