Man, I'm down. Trying to get into some mental health is hard. Especially when one works all day with no privacy whatsoever.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

emily, I have a friend that loves teaching middle schoolers - because they change all the time. I am guessing that the sooner they figure out what you will put up with, and what you won't, the better. I've noticed that lots of kids that age think rules are arbitary - reasons sometimes help, and so does 'today I'm makeing a new rule because you are driving me crazy'. Now, I 'm ony trying to maintain order( at the library) - not help anyone learn; however changeing the rules because x or y behavior is getting out of control - even if they have been getting away with it for a year, does work. It is maybe difficult for a week- but then it gets smooth again. and the kids knowI have two sides. happy, cheerful, interested when they are asking questions or need help and stern, no nonsense, sharp when correcting behavior.

I'm right there with you, Nora. Except for the at work part.
RUMBALLS!
It's the new monkey.
I just spent all morning (as well as the better part of the last couple weeks) trying to psych myself up to call and get the ball rolling. I got surly incompetant admninstrative staff and voicemail. I can't leave my work number or leave my cell on to take his return call... so it will be playing phone tag. And, well, just damn. Damnation and RUMBALLS!

BWAH! Love.

RUMBALLS! This is kind of awesome... from one of our rare MS catalogers.
Just thought I'd share today's discovery. In a late 13th century manuscript that Silvia is working on she found the following colophon at the end.
"Expliciunt decretales per manus Gerdrudis que solebat ludere cum nudis."
Essentially:
"Here end the Decretals (written) by the hands of Gertrude, who was accustomed to playing with nude people."
(Gertrude spells her name with a "d" instead of a "t" -- in case you thought that was a transcription error.)
Interestingly this scribe is a she, which is not too common...not to mention that she felt it important to mention that she used to spend her time with the disrobed!
"Here end the Decretals (written) by the hands of Gertrude, who was accustomed to playing with nude people."
I love this so much. New tag line.
An early case of a snarky tagline.
She came out to tell me about it first, and ended with, "God, I love the 13th century!"
