Whenever we go on long trips, I always bring books. And I start reading as soon as I get in the vehicle. And my dad tells me to wait until we get to the highway, as if I haven't seen the road from the house to the highway four gazillion times. Must remember to tell my mother that she's apparently related to a gentleman from India. Though I was told to put down the book and watch TV with the rest of the family. sj, I can't even imagine what I would have said to that woman. All I can picture is my jaw dropping.

Books are the one thing I will always buy for the kids. That used to be a treat when Jake was a toddler -- we'd walk downtown on a nice day, eat lunch at a little cafe, and go to the bookstore.

The only thing that was bad about always reading in the car - after I got my driver's license I kept getting lost in my home town, that I had lived in for 15 years.

Well, call me a mean mom, but I try not to buy CJ or K-Bug too many books any more.

CJ has such a huge collection that he has not read, but is working his way through.

K-Bug is too voracious of a reader (for me to afford to keep up with book purchases). I keep reminding them both about this fantastic place called the LIBRARY. They actually let you read for FREE. Shocking. Utterly shocking, I tell you.

I can understand with older kids like yours Suzi. They can and should use the library.
