I can't really be in here, since I'm just watching first season Wire, but I just have to say: Oh no! Wallace! I'm sad for that kid. I had semi-spoiled myself looking at imdb, but I had hopes he would stay at his grandmother's and be OK.
It's possible that he's in the land of perpetual Wednesday, or the crazy melty land, or you know, the world without shrimp.

Wallace broke Simon y'all. Which I thought, "Whoa...that's deep." because he usually likes to act beyond that sort of thing, even more than George P., who wrote it.(I think George is like me...a big marshmallow who tries to front like he's cool. And he is...his music collection is the shit, and were it not for the name, I'd think he was black.) But, Simon, tough Newsguy still talks about Wallace's death as the toughest thing he ever produced. Ever. Which, in its own way, is a bit like Buffy saying "Mommy?" in The Body. Extra gut-punching.(And I would still write a Dickens ending for Wallace and D'Angelo. I pretend to be comfortable with their harsh realities, but I would still like them to have a secret uncle that is Prime Minister of Liberia. I know y'all feel me on this.
Although my absolute favorite commentary moment is when Domenic West takes a second to thank Wendell Pierce for rescuing him before season two when he tells the predominantly black crowd that the next season will be a "real cracker" and Michael K. Williams(Omar) laughs his ass off.

Well, he's still sad about it and he knew how it was gonna turn out. And the crew were wrecks and they are Teamsters. Honestly, I don't want to meet the person that could watch that and be like "Anything else on?" Although the end of Season Four made me howl like an animal...George can bring the pain when he wants. It was great, but like(sniff) You bastard! And of course, I thought all the people blogging 'It was great, but really deeply sad.Really really." were writing for punk-assed bitches, not people used to the 'verse like me. So *I* wasn't gonna need any of the Man's damn Kleenex, not me.So, cut to the end of the hour, me crying for the pain of the world, tears running everywhere, blowing my nose on a deposit slip(which still seems appropriate, if chafing) while my mother is looking at me like 'This is why we pay $20 extra a month and can't go to dinner on Sundays...Okay. Why not just pay somebody to kick you in the guts, too." and I'm still mumbling "Fuckin' Pelecanos, man. Did it to me AGAIN." and wondering if I can get my fake mystery-writing boyfriend on charges of domestic abuse. But it was brilliant and I wouldn't trade it...those feelings are my *humanity*, and thank God I still have them.(I'm still looking for a place to use the insights I got from that, actually.) So, to make a short story long, I don't think you have anything to apologize for...there are real "Wallaces" you know.

Somehow that kind of reminds me of a hoax we studied in journalism school. Some woman named Janet Something wrote this story about "Jimmy" the preteen drug fiend in The Washington Post, about how he shared works with his parents and etc. Except Janet made it up, or at least it wasn't able to be corroborated, and when somebody talked to her editor at the Post later, he said the worst part was that there could be real Jimmys out there, and nobody would believe it.ETA: Yeah, Corwood, I'm fine *now* but the end of Season Four did apparently bring up things or something...I'm usually not the type to cry at television.
