It's impressive how quickly and completely Lancel went from thinking he was on top of the world to seeing he was utterly screwed.
This episode had a lot of of women wielding power in various ways, didn't it? Brienne, Cat, Margaery, Arya, Daenarys. We didn't see Cersei, did we? But we know her well enough to see her reflection in Margaery. And, of course, Melisandre.

I think that's my only disconnect -- I seem to remember before the series began and I started reading the books that some people were upset by Martin's treatment of women. But I think there are a lot of really strong women characters in the series. Am I misremembering that?

No, Amy, I think I can remembr some of the same complaints -- it's easy to dismiss on the surface, but then the same people tend to read the books as a glorification of knighthood and ye olde Medieval Times, which they aren't either.

I think most of those complaints came after certain events in book 4 and 5. Which I can understand, even if I don't agree.
