Some of you quiet fans of The Wire might love the fuck out of the videos you can find on this page. Not spoilery for anyone who's seen at least the first couple of episodes from Season 1.
Really? Nothing? No, "Hey, No-Heart Anthony!," even?
Can't watch video on this computer.
My computer's fucked up more ways than hammered shit. It's hangin' in by a hair, though. But no more sound or video files. It's hard not being a taxpayer sometimes. "I miss Prez...I surely do,"
Strangely enough, I'm glad that it's technical difficulties causing the lack of response rather than y'all simply no longer caring. A world in which neither of you cares about The Wire is no world to live in.
Seriously? You think that could happen? Without the application of real heroin, at least? Then you have not seen me following people around online because they quote from it. I have nobody around here to talk about it with and my mother is bemused by its effect on my vocabulary. I'm not over the Simon thing because of the Olbermann thing...it's just that a smaller demo would buy a Special Comment book where every invocation of Murrow ends with "motherfucker".(I still would, but even by liberal standards, I'm not normal.) I've thought about it a lot watching "The West Wing" though...how different a Simon WW would be. Or a Sorkin Wire. And I better stop before I'm in High Hat again.ETA: Maybe I'll write that one under a new pen name-- Fuzzy Dunlop.
Snoop: Like, for instance, in WW season 5, Toby Ziegler comes up with a fix for Social Security in the dead of night. He stretches the truth to get Senators on board with it(that part would have been the same) but when the shit hit the fan, I guess I'm Wire-influenced enough to expect Toby to get treated like Bunny Colvin. I was okay with the fact that he didn't, not really because I *believe* government works that way, but I love that gloomy-ass character. The part where that episode completely lost me was where Bartlet declines to take credit, despite being a second-termer very concerned about his legacy following a constitutional crisis. Um, yeah. That'll happen.
