I'm not over the Simon thing because of the Olbermann thing...it's just that a smaller demo would buy a Special Comment book where every invocation of Murrow ends with "motherfucker".(I still would, but even by liberal standards, I'm not normal.) I've thought about it a lot watching "The West Wing" though...how different a Simon WW would be. Or a Sorkin Wire. Snoop: Like, for instance, in WW season 5, Toby Ziegler comes up with a fix for Social Security in the dead of night. He stretches the truth to get Senators on board with it(that part would have been the same) but when the shit hit the fan, I guess I'm Wire-influenced enough to expect Toby to get treated like Bunny Colvin. I was okay with the fact that he didn't, not really because I *believe* government works that way, but I love that gloomy-ass character. The part where that episode completely lost me was where Bartlet declines to take credit, despite being a second-termer very concerned about his legacy following a constitutional crisis. Um, yeah. That'll happen.
