I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I had it in my head that The Wire was coming back in November, and I realized that it's almost November and got a little excited, but then I went and checked with HBO and it's actually January that it comes back.

Sigh.

Always Anti-fascist!

I know. And this time I'm HBO-less. Whine. But last time having it come back close to my birthday fueled all my Simon "spousal delusions" You guys know that that's tongue-in-cheek, right? I'd hate to have something happen to me and for y'all to have to explain that away on "Dateline" My computer would be a real challenge for some "murder po-lice"

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I really hate the opening credits.

I looooooove the credits.

I just watched the finale and cried. I think I agree with this assessment:

The characters are well-drawn, I think. Sometimes I like one, sometimes another, they all take turns being idiots and bastards and woobies, kind of.

I definitely liked the show, though I don't know about all the praise it's gotten. But I'm glad I watched it as a cultural text, if nothing else.

They won many awards. I hate them like I hate no other opening credits. They hit a certain point when they should (in my mind) end, and they keep going, and it angers me beyond all reasonable expextation.

Fortunately, I watched most of the series on DVD and could just skip past them. Those episodes I watched live I'd have to busy myself with something else.

They're pretty long, yeah, but I love the theme song a whole lot, as well as the way they match the images. I feel like the theme song so perfectly encompasses the tone and themes of the show.

I think they are too damn long. I like The Wire credits. Got to keep the devil Down in the hole. And the wall that says Bodymore, Murdaland.(Which DS swears they just found...not made up in the art department)

IIRC, they developed the imagery first and the composer wrote the music to fit it.

Eta: The Wire credits are fantastic. Every season.
