Aw, man. That made me miss HBO. Dude...weird about Chris Albrecht, huh? I mean, I know the PSAs say "it crosses all demographic lines" but at the same time "HBO executive" and "Girlfriend assaulter" don't exactly seem to fit the same dossier. I suppose I remember his name because, during the crapzillion "Save The Wire" letters I wrote in '04, to make them look laid out properly, I used the Letter Writing Wizard and so my computer still "thinks" I owe Mr. Albrecht a letter from time to time.
Premium Cable: The Cursing Costs Extra
[NAFDA] A thread for the discussion of all original programming on HBO, Showtime, Starz and other premium channels.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I can't remember, but I think he's the guy who axed S4 of Deadwood before his shameful departure. Which certainly colors my opinion of the guy.
Well, yeah, he's a total Jarry. But still I wouldn't expect *that*.

I had it in my head that The Wire was coming back in November, and I realized that it's almost November and got a little excited, but then I went and checked with HBO and it's actually January that it comes back.
Sigh.
I know. And this time I'm HBO-less. Whine. But last time having it come back close to my birthday fueled all my Simon "spousal delusions" You guys know that that's tongue-in-cheek, right? I'd hate to have something happen to me and for y'all to have to explain that away on "Dateline" My computer would be a real challenge for some "murder po-lice"
I really hate the opening credits.
I looooooove the credits.
I just watched the finale and cried. I think I agree with this assessment:
The characters are well-drawn, I think. Sometimes I like one, sometimes another, they all take turns being idiots and bastards and woobies, kind of.
I definitely liked the show, though I don't know about all the praise it's gotten. But I'm glad I watched it as a cultural text, if nothing else.
