I know! Damnit.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

He's not nice, but like Mr. Bennett wrt to Claire, he has no intention of being selfish.

I disagree. He’s done so much to sabotage Peter because he’s worried about his political aspirations. Peter’s done nothing but think about him, like taking the hit for the trip in Vegas.

It was a nice change to see him interacting with someone else's powers and not have Hiro swoop in and save the day yet again.

I’m glad that he’s realized what his power is.

Given that it was his brother possibly dead and he could definitely keep Peter safe by keeping him away from Odessa, he made his choice. Simone had to consider the same choice before she showed the photoprint to Peter.

Why don’t people ever learn that you can’t beat prophecy? Claire’s dad thought that he could ground her and it wouldn’t happen. If she hadn’t been late because she was grounded, she and Jackie wouldn’t have been the last ones in the locker room, she would have been on the field already. Now, Nathan has not stopped the prophecy AND he’s alienated his brother.

I was a little afraid that Sylar would absorb Pixie Pusher’s power and it would be a battle of wills like that time on Smallville.

What is even happening?

I agree with this.
Peter’s done nothing but think about him, like taking the hit for the trip in Vegas.
But not with this. Peter, in part, took the hit for the Vegas trip, in order to have something over Nathan, so he could get him the portrait. Mind, I don't think he was wrong to do so, but it wasn't all for Nathan's sake.

Scott and I were yelling the same thing at the TV, last night.

I was a little afraid that Sylar would absorb Pixie Pusher’s power and it would be a battle of wills like that time on Smallville.
Me, too (except the Smallville part, because I've never watched it.) I was also afraid Peter might pick up some of Sylar's evil.

oh, good point, hadn't thought about that.

Me, too (except the Smallville part, because I've never watched it.)

episode about two salesmen who were best friends had the power to control people through touch, usually a handshake. one of the them used his power for evil, the other turned into a recluse. The end was them clasping hands and trying to overpower the other (lot of CGI in the background and swelling music)

I was a little afraid that Sylar would absorb Pixie Pusher’s power and it would be a battle of wills like that time on Smallville.

My guess (and I've heard it from others) is that Sylar may need to do something with the physical brain to absorb the powers, hence the hands-free slicing and dicing. Not sure I want to know how he learned that particular trick if that is the case.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Cindy got to what I was going to say about Nathan, Vortex. He's a prick, but some of the stuff he does is about family, not about himself--I didn't put that restriction in my post and I should have. I just meant this latest stuff.

Sometimes you can beat prophecy. Depends on the world you're working in, and how is Nathan to know? Also, how can it be better for him not to try?

Also--the shot of Claire on those...oh, the wide shot with her in the auditorium looking behind her in panic with the looming shadow--did that happen? I thought Peter was with her when she ran.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't think we have enough information about the rules of prophecy/time travel on this show. Is it the kind of world where you can actually change things, or is it the kind of world where no matter what you do, it leads to what was prophesied/originally happened?

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Well, if prophecy is unchangable, that means New York is getting nuked no matter what.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Also--the shot of Claire on those...oh, the wide shot with her in the auditorium looking behind her in panic with the looming shadow--did that happen? I thought Peter was with her when she ran.

It did look like we never got the actual shot that was in the painting but holy God, was it cool to see it almost happen. To see the painting come to life.

Well, if prophecy is unchangable, that means New York is getting nuked no matter what.

Given what we just saw, I think it's not as unchangable as all that. Because Peter kept the specific painting shot from happening. At least that one.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Are we actually dealing with a prophecy here, though? Sure, Isaac painted some pictures of possible events, but just because he painted something that might be possible doesn't make it eventual. I think we're dealing with the realm of free will, here. This is an "anything you do can change the future" versus "nothing you do can change the future."
