Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Also--the shot of Claire on those...oh, the wide shot with her in the auditorium looking behind her in panic with the looming shadow--did that happen? I thought Peter was with her when she ran.

It did look like we never got the actual shot that was in the painting but holy God, was it cool to see it almost happen. To see the painting come to life.

Well, if prophecy is unchangable, that means New York is getting nuked no matter what.

Given what we just saw, I think it's not as unchangable as all that. Because Peter kept the specific painting shot from happening. At least that one.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Are we actually dealing with a prophecy here, though? Sure, Isaac painted some pictures of possible events, but just because he painted something that might be possible doesn't make it eventual. I think we're dealing with the realm of free will, here. This is an "anything you do can change the future" versus "nothing you do can change the future."

All is well that ends in pizza.

if I suddenly developed THE ABILITY TO FLY, I feel safe in speculating that'd change things. Everything.

I can see where it interferes with what he wants out of life. Nathan wants to be a politician, not a superhero.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Malt-O-Meal:

I wonder how long Peter has a person's powers once he absorbs them?

Last night it seemed quite a bit later when he straightened out his leg when the police pulled up.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Cream of Wheat:

Also, I really wish Peter would get a haircut. The "little Nicky" cut is just creepy, sometimes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I can totally see someone as singleminded as Nathan not giving a fuck about flying.

What a waste.

Prophecy, telling the future, predicting events that will turn out this way unless someone with knowledge of the prediction does something about it...it's a semantic game in my eyes.

I think a key which Nathan doesn't get is that the picture doesn't tell the whole story.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

How can we recognize him in the paintings if he doesn't have a distinctive haircut?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Let him have a distinctive haircut, just not "Little Nicky."
