A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Speaking of Torchwood: (responding to SA's comment)
Owen is a rapist. He is a loose canon. He's not interestingly messed up...
While I was watching ep. 3, I noted something I thought would get more discussion here:
That Owen, who had used alien tech to rape people by pheromoning them into willingness, was forced by alien tech to experience rape.
ETA: Sorry, sorrry, sorry, wrong tag... fixed now.
It's kind of counterproductive for Hiro and Ando to go all the way to NYC just to go to Texas,
Texas is easily on the way from Las Vegas to NYC, btw, especially if they drive.
Ah I kind of thought that his hand was perforating her intestines or something (giving where it ghosted in) which is definitely fatal without medical treatment and has a good chance of being fatal with it. But I forgot that one of the conceits is these powers follow the marvel and DC comic book rules pretty closely. So maybe DL's powers do work like Kitty Pryde - meaning he gives shocks rather than tearing up internal organs.
Did anyone else's Comcast OnDemand skip posting Ep 3 of BSG, or is it just me?

Kitty does that? Consistently? I remember her phasing threats are more about phasing people into solid objects and then offering to leave them there.
My memories are similar to ita's in regards to Kitty. I know she phased through electronics a lot and that fried them, but she only phased through people as a defensive tactic and with no ill effect to them.
Kind of what I said . Oh! I didn't mean electric shocks. I meant that Kitty left them in a state like shock - basically no long term harm.
And I was assuming DL does something more lethal, but there is really nothing to prove it. If you take it that his power is like Kitty Pryde then he at least has the ability to do non-lethal things to them - I guess my not materializing his hands completely. I was thinking of dematerialization as an on/off thing. If you turn it off while your hands are in someones stomach that would seem to pretty fatal. But partial materialization does let you do non-lethal stuff. As soon as someone mentioned Kitty I remembered that one of the things she could do was, as was mentioned up thread, put her hands into someone an induce pain and helpless without doing permanent damage ; I always assumed medial shock.
[On Edit: this whole knocking people unconscious thing was in an alternate reality; in the marvel prime univerise she could only disrupt electronics . ]

To you too, though. I mean, if it's Kitty Pryde like. She was at risk of death if she unphased while still in anything.
Torchwood:
WindSparrow -
I noticed the rapist/rapee thing about Owen too. According to the "Declassified" on last night (think Confidential - short behind-the-scenes show), Owen's going to be having a season-long arc relating to that stuff. I don't like the character at all, but I do like the actor - he was great in "Bleak House" - so I'm going along with it
.
Kate, I completely agree with your take on
Gwen's reactions to physical violence, but I really like the way they're playing that. I agree that it's more realistic than the way the threat of violence is usually shown on TV. Also, you have to remember that low-ranking British police, which Gwen was (she was a P.C., a police constable, the entry-level job) would not have firearms experience or training, and would theoretically not be exposed to excessive violence on the job
.
Yes, I think they're playing up
the dark, and playing down the funny with Torchwood. Which is a pity, but it's early days yet
.
Did Heroes run a minute or two long? I didn't get around to watching it until last night and it seemed to cut out before it was over.
