but it's fun to share it
Yep. My best friend and I answered an ad in Tiger Beat to join the Andy Gibb Fan Club. We filled out the paperwork together and sent our stuff in. We were scared our parents wouldn't want us to join, so we did it in secret and used our allowance money to join (I think it was all of $4.95). We didn't know any better and sent in cash.
We were so excited when we got the welcome letter and small booklet of pictures in the mail!!
Mojitos are tricksy beasts. A well-done one is very tasty, but too many of them end up tasting like a lime-flavored Pixy Stick. There's a restaurant in North Beach called Mojitos, and I think their mojitos are not tasty. Too much soda water.
I can't make a mojito at home.
I went to dinner at a friends and was asked do you like vodka, gin, scotch or rum. the answer is yes
TRUUUUDY TRUUUUDY TRUUUUDY.
It bears repeating. That's an awesome story.
Because YouTube is just the berries...

That's Rock N Roll
is missing the very first line (I was 16, and sick of school).
Matt, I think the mojito is one of the drinks that places do either very well or very bad. And the overall quality of the place doesn't matter! I've had mojitos in three places in Madison. The ones I thought would have good ones didn't and the one I wasn't expecting much from, had one of the better ones (an Ethiopian restaurant, who woulda thunk it?)
Trudy now has another good story.
And a whole bunch of (poor, poor) Andy Gibb, for good measure: [link]
Thanks Cindy!
One of the great "tragedies" of my childhood was when the Hartford Civic Center roof collapsed--I didn't care if anyone could have been hurt, my only concern was the fate of my Shaun Cassidy concert tickets! He played in New Haven instead. At the concert, one of my friends felt so stupid just sitting there when everyone else was going crazy, that she stood up and started screaming for no reason.
Oh, I loved Andy Gibb and Shaun Cassidy, too. And David Cassidy. And Peter Frampton after I saw Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band five times.
I was quite the preteen slut.
I actually wish I still had some of those Tiger Beats. That would make an awesome afternoon of nostalgia.
Trudy, I can't believe you saw Mark Hamill and then kissed Leif Garrett. You should totally get a T-shirt with iron-on letters that says so.
