Does that guy rubbing up on me in the subway count as being hit on? Because that happens to me pretty often...
does anyone else think ita's personal cheer is:
Be Specific!
Be Be Specific!
Hee!

I pretty much carry a fuck off and die sign (unless I'm carrying the oh hell no one if I'm feeling friendlier), but unfortunately there are the no-boundaries people. I really hate the no-boundaries people.
shorthand for Hi, I'm a New Yorker
Well, yes, but I'm sure there are New Yorkers who get hit on.
I'm sure there are New Yorkers who get hit on.
Did you mean "get a hit put on them"?
I think I'm making a distinction between "hit on" which is creepy and or sleezy, and flirted with, which is pleasant and innocuous.

You're thinking of Jersey.
I don't get hit on either, but I (a) am usually with my husband and (b) give out pretty distinct "do not talk to me" vibes.
I'm so solidly (b), even when I'm not meaning to, that (a) seems less and less likely. Frustrating. Also what ita said about the RarelyGA. Which is frustrating in a different manner.

Hey!
yes, I tend to think of them in two camps - the sex and the city wanna bes, or you know, college students.
One of the funny things about the "I'm too busy to be hit on" look is that, while you are making it, it's very hard to notice being hit on. I am sure I have been hit on while I did that look, but I would have to be hit with an Actual Anvil (or an incredibly obnox pickup line) to have it make any impact.
I am finding, much to my surprise, that being receptive to and even reciprocal of hit-ons causes them to occur more often, or to be more obvious, or both.
