Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Dogs, otoh - well, we have a new rule in our house. To wit: if you want me to take seriously the grave security threat that has you barking like Stalin was at the door with an axe, you might want to get up off you damn dog bed to do it. Seriously, yo. Do you not see how you're undermining your own case?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

and she really likes getting phone calls,

She does indeed, but she's taking a nap so her phone will be off until 7pm PST.

Thanks all for checking in with her. It's been very cheering.

She got her seventeenth needle stick this afternoon, the second steroid shot. "It burns! It burns!" But I think they're done poking her for a while.

In a small bit of bureaucratic good news, I contested an EDD edict that I had not properly registered my resume online and was to be docked three weeks of unemployment. Saw the judge on Wednesday, he thought my excuses were meritorious and those three weeks ($675) are restored to me. Huzzah.

What is even happening?

Hec, has the bleeding stopped, yet? I know before you said they could tell it was only old blood, but I've just been wondering.

She's still passing some blood, but it's very little. Maybe a teaspoon every three hours? I think that's why they postponed the release until Monday. They want to see it completely stopped for 24 hours first.

Mostly lurking...

Hec, I'm glad she's doing better. msbelle and I were gonna call, but I see her phone's off, so we will either try later or tomorrow. Poor bored JZ!

msbelle is here with me, and we have gotten SO much done today. My kitchen and dining room are completely settled, all my books are shelved, and almost all the pictures are hung. So exciting!

Now I think I need a snack of fruit.

Thrive to spite them

So glad JZ is improving!

My cat has been obnoxious. I started feeding her canned food as a treat (because she's old and I figure I should spoil her some) and now she meows loudly and at length when ever there is dry food in her dish. She's also evidentally decided that canned cat food means she deserves to have water fresh from the faucet and she's been pacing in the bathroom and jumping up on the toilet and meowing. The idea of locking her in the laundry room is starting to sound very appealing to me.

Always Anti-fascist!

My mother said "when your book comes out," today. Sometimes I wish she wouldn't do that, though she was trying to be all 'living well is the best revenge" but I maybe can write a page and a half a week now. I think she doesn't quite have to clear room on the shelves, and besides I'm the memorex of writers. She's already read my book. So have I because I have zero original thoughts.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Thanks so much for all the -ma and the calls and good wishes. I was telling Hec last night that thinking about the Buffistas made me think about the young wife's final monologue in Angels in America, where she talks about flying to San Francisco and seeing all the people who have passed on shimmering through the air around the airplane, joining hands and making a shield of themselves for all the scared, sad, sick people still walking around on the ground.

Not that any of y'all are passed on, but I felt the floaty hands and the loving wishes shielding me and the Halloweenie, all around us. So thank you all, so much.

All continues well, except that I'm now here through Monday morning at least. And my ass is all sore and cranky from excessive bedrest and the steroid injections. But I'm okay and the Halloweenie is vigorous and steadily heartbeaty and the placenta is staying put for now, so yay.

Brief post 'cause this keyboard is all rubbery and weird and sucks.
