Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Is it inappropriate to call your classmate an ignorant tight-ass for stating his opinion that CNN is anti-semitic for "expressing sympathy" for Lebanon.

No.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

You might not want to say it out loud unless you're looking for an argument.

Signed, So tired of being told why NPR is anti-semitic

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Thanks, TB. Just checking.

Cass, if I'm calling you close to midnight, you might end up with overnight guests.

Aimee - call your classmates anything you want, just keep away from the keyboard.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I've ... um ... got spare floor? I didn't think you'd be heading down that late though.

I would hope not. If we lose out tomorrow, I want to meander my way home, but DH wants to zoom home. We will see what happens. Since I'm the one who will be doing most of the driving...

You've got the wheel and you've got the rule. Thus your way is whatever highway you choose.

Dude, I need some sleep.

Now tagless for your comfort.

The three hour nap I took from 6-9--I'm thinking now (at 2 a.m.) that it wasn't such a great idea. *headdesk*

What is even happening?

Cashmere, I hope you're not up, now.

Deena, the babies-puppy one-two punch is hardly fair. Nick in the costume makes this unbeatable. It sounds like you had a lovely birthday. I'm so glad.

vw, you're all moved! Good for you. May you enjoy your new home!

I've read some fascinating bits on where this whole notion of literalism came from. A reaction to science, and the encroachment of science on areas religion once regarded as its domain is one, of course. Another was a sustained encounter with Islam after large portions of the Muslim world were incorporated into the British Empire.
I ought to read about that. It's fascinating to me, and although I suspected it as a reaction to science, I never considered contact with Islam as a factor. I don't suppose any of it is online?

It's difficult for me, sometimes, to have a conversation where either literalism, or various takes on the doctrine of inerrancy are bandied about, because I understand enough about the actual beliefs behind both ways of reading scripture, and know that sometimes, they aren't so easily or well summed up, by either term.

Imagine a culture with no concept of God whatsoever.
I thought you were going to favo(u)r us with a Lennon tune, for a moment, billytea.

Good Morning, Bitches! I haven't been by here in forever.
