Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
If I like cloudy, cool weather, that rarely gets below 40F or above 75F, and I like the company of intelligent, educated people and interesting things to do, and I want to stay in North America, where should I live?
This was pretty much my mission statement and why I chose San Francisco. Seattle and Portland would also have fit, but SF seems to have an even narrower temperature range than those two, if weather.com is to be believed.
The lows rarely go under 40 in Portland but the highs are usually 80 for bits of the summer. So it might be a bit too warm for you. Right now it is partly overcast and partly sunshiney and 69 degrees. Freak heatwaves and personal pollen issues aside, I love this city.
And my range was specifically "no snow" because I only like to visit the white stuff and then only when I get to ski.
We don't have quite the earthquake probabilities here but we do have nearby volcanos so there are still tectonic considerations, zenkitty.
Pollen issues? Well, Kleenex doesn't make a tissue soft enough today. Heh. Puppycat is sneezing too. Scares herself every time it happens too.
Andi, that happened to Mac (one of our dogs) once. I didn't notice it right away and she ended up with a small, fluid filled cyst at the site. But it was no biggie to have it removed. Just keep a close eye on it. It never reoccurred with Mac--it was just the one time. She never suffered any other ill effects from her vaccinations. Definitely call your vet just in case.
There is a small scab which might represent where the needle went in, and a minor amount of irritation. It sure did not look as red as my skin would look if I scratched hard enough to pull hair out.
Kittenish has managed to scratch off the fur near her ears. No huge irritation to the skin there either. I would at least keep self-inflicted mutilation as an option, especially if the injection site itched.
I don't mind temps inching up into the low 80s if they don't plan to stay. Nearby volcanoes freak me out too, but I have the irrational belief that I/my pets/science could predict one of those better than an earthquake, and I'd have time to get the hell out. Also, I have virtually no pollen issues.
All righty, so Portland's on my list too then. I thought it might be.

Just had a pretty good evening. Had to supervise study hall, which actually didn't go so well (four failed tests -- ugh. I should have made them study more and take the tests tomorrow), but as we were walking back, all the kids were running around trying to catch fireflies, and it was just so sweet. Then, on the way back to my dorm, I met these people walking a two-month-old Huskie puppy, who was just the cutest little doggy ever.
Also got an email from my cousin in Israel, saying that all the family she's been able to get in touch with is OK. (There aren't too many living in the north -- most of my family there is in the south.)

Actually, that is pretty much true. Volcanos give off a hell of a lot of warnings before anything happens and these are watched and studied extensively.

I can't figure out how to find out without spoiling myself for the damn race I am trying to watch should they ever actually show the freaking race instead of fun! little! clips! of stuff that happened in April.
