[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

pizza and wine

The poor UPS man came to the door in the absolute middle of a huge thunder storm we had, earlier this evening. He was (bless) bringing us a dual-tuner TiVo, right when we were at the height of the storm. When I heard the doorbell, I couldn't figure out who I knew who would be fool enough to be out in that weather, just to pop into my house, unexpectedly.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay Emily!

Ginger, if you have a dihwasher it may heat the water hot enoug to sterilize. I hope the issue is resolved quickly - not having clean water seriously sucks.

Oh, nice UPS guy!

I have made it to the Grand Vista hotel in Simi Valley. The vista isn't all that grand, at least from our room.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm so terribly sorry. I just left Simi Valley not two hours ago, and I'd never wish it on anyone. t /tremendous issues

I'm sorry that my schedule doesn't line up with yours too.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Welcome to the Bay Area, Emily!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yay for Emily arriving safely in SF!

{{{Raq}}} Tons of biopsy ~ma.

{{{JZ}}} Finish the bag of cheese bakes, you deserve them. It sounds like it was a stressful day.

Dave and I just got home from Newport. We stopped at my mother's beach house on the way home too. It was a really wonderful day. We ate at a restaurant called the Black Pearl, which sadly does not include a Captain Sparrow, but happily does include a pretty outside seating area on the waterfront. I also bought pirate t-shirts for both of the nephews. We found a tea shop that wasn't there last year and stopped for a cup of tea and a scone after walking around all day long. It was very nice, and of course it got me thinking about how I would do my own fantasy tea shop if I ever am able to open one. I did get a little sunburn on my shoulders despite a liberal application of sunblock, but it isn't that bad considering how fair skinned I am.

I think I'm in another place for the actual wedding tomorrow, and I know the brunch is in Westlake. LA geography is a little confusing. Everything is right there close by but also tremendously far away, somehow.

It's too bad about the non-meshing schedules, but it was a long shot I would've been able to hook up with anyone. I'll make a more leisurely trip with advanced planning and everything eventually, I hope.

And I'm already blowing off drinks because I am completely worn out from the drive, so chances of being fun to meet right now are low. Except for the amusement granted by throwing things at the sleeping person.

That sounds wonderfully fun, sj. Opening a tea shop sounds like a really good thing to think about.

Going to sleep now before my typing gets any worse. Yes, I'm on board time and the sky is not exactly dark yet. I don't care.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It's not really a full-fledged lesson, just a 15 minute problem solving activity to give them a taste of math class, with me, in a performing arts school. I'm using the clip where Sarah has to figure out what to ask the guards (one truth-teller, one liar) to avoid Certain Death. Sadly, this is a Bowie-less scene, but it does set up a problem-solving activity rather better than any of his.

I got extra credit in my freshman art class for bringing this film to my teacher's attention. She showed it in class and we had a great time. Needless to say, the Bog of Eternal Stench was a hit with the 15 year old boys in the class. I think we were working on Escher inspired drawings or perspective so it fit right in--but there were lots of art lessons to be learned in that movie, too. The logic stuff flew right over my head.

The status is NOT quo.

You have just described our traffic issues perfectly.
