Mostly lurking...

The way increasing murder rate in Boston is totally INSANE and awful and tragic.

I know. It really is.

Actually, I too am more likely not to take it because of the not being finished thing too. I mean, I was just telling Emily that there's *nothing* in the kitchen right now. No cabinets. No appliances. Nothing.

Oh, and it's on the first floor, which I'm not thrilled about.

But, it is huge. Actually, it kind of reminds me of Victor and thessaly's place.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Apropos of nothing, I'm listening to medleys of Broadway musicals (My Fair Lady, Camelot, Gigi, so far), and I keep bursting into tears. That can't be normal, can it? There aren't even any lyrics, but I pretty much know the lyrics (except for Gigi), so I guess that doesn't matter.

And vw, a not finished, first floor apartment in a not good neighborhood where someone was murdered nearby doesn't seem like a keeper to me, even if it's big. Of course, my judgment may be off now (see the crying thing above).

I am so overwhelmed. I just counted and realized I have 30 skirts. Actually I have more than that. 36 in the house. Two of them are already in the "get rid of" pile. One goes with my interview suit, so I am not counting it. And three I haven't yet taken the tags off of, nor taken out of the shopping bags (not allowing myself to, until I've winnowed a bit). And that doesn't even get into the number of sweaters/shirts/pants...formal dresses...

Woe to the fucking wicked.

And Meara succeeds in making me feel much better about my own need to weed out clothes. Rather than skirts, though, my thing is shirts.

Yeha, see why I said I needed someone's help, Debetesse?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

You didn't tell me it was clothes cleaning! That's a whole different deal than cleaning cleaning.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

This is why I don't count what I own, I would probably find it too upsetting.

Dave and I had a good day with his family. The only thing that didn't go well was the birthday gift we brought to his nephew. Dave gets his nephew comic books every year for his birthday, and we are always hearing from his parents that he loves them and that his father has to buy him more because he enjoys having them read to him so much. However, when he opened his gift today he said to Dave, "Can you not buy me comics anymore? I want toys." I felt so bad for Dave, because I know he thought he was doing a really cool thing for his nephew.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Oh, sj, that's too bad for Dave.

vw, I agree with the folks saying forget about the apartment in the kill zone. Too many cons, not enough pros. Total square footage is not the be-all-end-all of a good apartment. I'll take less sq. footage over more total storage space anyday.

The daughter was lonely in her new apartment, today. She came over and we did some shopping for the new apartment and went to dinner. I have to admit, I feel a lot more alone now that she's moved out. Even a little lonely because even if she wasn't here much at the same time I was, I'd gotten used to her living here. It's so quiet, now, even with the TV on.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Poor Dave!

As for when the kitties meet, out vet advises us not to interfere and let them sort it out but I fear that Trinian's brain of very small size will just make her a very vicious being. I'm a tad concerned to say the least.

I've heard from reputable sources that it helps to introduce the new kitties by putting some tuna juice on their heads.

Honest.

Also, I am pleased to be Laura's ex in Dreamland. NSM for the ex-element, but...you know. Laura. Woof.

Always Anti-fascist!

Oh, you guys would be the Friendly Exes, like Stanley and Marge on H:LOTS. Which drove Munch crazy and made him all "Divorced people hate each other, Stanley."
