Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

happy birthday juliana!

Commute continues to suck. You know, if they can't get it together to aircondition all the train cars, at least give us windows to open!

Also, there was a whole kids screaming and throwing Kix incident, and I blame that on the MBTA as well, as I choose to believe they would be perfect angels if it weren't so goddamn hot in the train.

Because books.

Happy, happy birthday, juliana! With cake!

It's only 8:30 and I am sweating already. This does not bode well for the rest of the day.

In "them what has, gets" news, tomorrow I have a job interview at a major university. I got the call the day after we found out our current contracts would be extended for a year. Naturally. Still, this could be a very good move for me. (Some of the coworkers would be delightful, for starters, although I don't know how close the local buffistas are to my potential department.) So any spare interview~ma lying about would be deeply appreciated at around 11 am, EDT. Tomorrow's also when it's expected to hit 100F around here, so if there's such a thing as "not turning into a gross pile of sweat and allegedly-waterproof mascara"~ma, that would also be lovely.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Calli, would it be possible for you to arrive a few minutes early so you can find a restroom to fix whatever may need to be fixed?

I've done that a couple of times for interviews. People tend to be cooperative in that kind of situation.

Yep, I plan to get there by 10:30, scope out the interview office location, and do massive repair work in the restroom. Hose and interview shoes will probably be carried in. I think I've found the true purpose of a briefcase--heaven knows I don't really need it for much work stuff.
