I always thought, was a way for people to learn that no just God needs the sacrifice of your children as proof of faith. Still makes God look like a total bastard. Though, wasn't that the first time in human history that someone got Punk'd?
I have heard the theory, although that wasn't how I read it as a child. As an adult, I think I have more of a problem with the punking, but I (like Nutty said above) HATE any and all practical jokes. I think they are mean, and not really very funny.

OK, there are days I really wonder about people. This dude sends me an email containing a forward of his account info, including password, saying it doesn't accept his password, fixit!
I tell him to make sure he's using a lower case "L", not a numeric one. He writes back his password (which, mind you, is in the original email we sent and he forwarded back and is copied in all these emails) doesn't contain a lower case "L". YES IT DOES IT'S RIGHT THERE I TOLD YOU IT IS AN L NOT A 1!!!!!!
