Matt, I hope the medication change helps. It may take a few days or so for it to take effect, though, so don't give up hope of that being the root cause of the problem.
Jesse, you'll be pleased to know the Weather Channel focused on NYC in their morning report.
Matt, I hope the medication change works. These things can take a couple of days but just being with him will help. Even if he can't be cheered up, it's best to have someone around to keep and eye on him until you see any positive change in the switch.
Happy Anniversary, Sheryl & DH!
After this past weekend of hell, I am officially job hunting. Anyone care to take a look at a resume or sample cover letter? Any and all critiques (short of "what the hell have you been doing with your life?") welcomed. In fact, scratch that. Anything up to and including "you're a loser who will never find another job." (Which voice inside my head has probably kept me in this job far longer than is helpful to my sanity.)
Oh Matt, your poor dad (and your poor mom, too). I have no idea how to approach your conversations with your dad. My guess is, as his son who loves him, you'll find the right words when you're with him. You have such a nice way about you, which was always obvious on the board, but even more so in person. If I were in your shoes, I would tell mom not to be worried about pestering your dad's doctor, and to make herself a squeaky wheel with that doctor, until your dad starts showing signs of improvement.
Matt, it seems like a good thing that you guys are in touch with your father's doctor about the medication and the side effects, if that's what the depression is -- at least it seems like that would give an opening rather than just trying to talk about mental health, which I know is often difficult. Possibly that should have been more than one sentence, but you know what I'm saying.

I am VERY pleased.
And yet, also annoyed because I left my house in plenty of time to be on time for work today but the goddamned trains were a mess and here I am, 20 minutes late. Annoying!!
I think I may have to resort to freezing a sheet in order to sleep tonight. Either that or I will be so tired I will just pass out. I thought that last night, after my cleaning, I would just fall asleep easily, but I was awake, awake, awake. I think perhaps I was accidentally drinking caffeinated iced-tea.
Matt, sounds like getting the medication changed is the best thing long-term. Not sure what you can do short-term because my usual suggestion is to get outdoors, which isn't a good idea in this weather. Maybe arrange for him to have his favorite dinner tonight?
Happy Anniversary, Sheryl and DH!
It's freezing in my office. Apparently, the building is cranking the AC in the morning, because they know that ConEd will make them turn it down in the afternoon.
I wish you guys could come and visit me for the heat wave. I haven't even plugged in my fan yet this summer. (Though there are days where I could have.)
Happy Anniversary to Sheryl and G!
{{Matt}} I hope that your dad returns to his normal personality as quickly as he fell into this depression. The support he has from you and your mother is the best thing he has going for him.
