Am so very tired. I was the first staff person to leave this work event tonight, but I decided I get a pass because it's only my second day. The best part was, the event took place like 2/3 of the way between the office and my house.

I wonder if it's some weird sign that I'm sick today. Actually, I feel ok, as long as I don't move more than between the bed, couch and bathroom. Gah!
I was sick yesterday, too, hence the catch-up (hey, the one time I actually have an excuse, I have to use it!)
I guess maybe it seems old enough to explain the maturity that's evident in the community, and young enough to explain the sense of fun.
I hadn't articulated it before, but I would have guessed 28 for most folks as well, for the same reasons. We're just a mature, funloving bunch of folks! Plus, I tend to think most folks I meet in person are about 28 too. I feel 28 as well, and that's no where close to the truth, so that shows what a crappy judge of age I am. And although I feel 28, I also like my life, and really didn't until my 30s. Logic? You want logic?
The beginning of the Christian church. The Holy Spirit and a translation miracle were involved, but I'm fuzzy on the details.
Some more detail about Pentacost from a non-expert: my understanding is that after the resurrection at Easter and Jesus' subsequent ascension, the disciples were left scared, confused and alone. At Pentacost, the Holy Spirit came upon them as wind and flame and left them the Gifts of the Spirit. The gifts of speaking in tongues, working miracles, and prophecy are perhaps the flashiest, but there are lots of other gifts as well, including, but not limited to, words of wisdom; words of knowledge; faith; healing; teaching; service; giving; leadership; mercy; and more. These gifts are mentioned in various areas of the Bible.
In my church (Episcopal), the key is that each person receives a gift, but the gifts are only complete in the entire Body, not in any one person, so we all have to work together in order to be whole. The Bible seems clear on this, but the Bible is clear on lots of things that some churches emphasize and others don't, so I'm not really sure if this aspect is emphasized in other denominations.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.
I have yet to get a full night of sleep here in the working world. Although after waking up at 5:30 this morning (stupid cat), I did finish my book, which everyone should really read -- Julie and Julia, by the woman who cooked all the recipes in Mastering the Art of French Cooking. It's so fun and funny! And I don't understand why she's neither a Buffista nor my friend in real life, as she was living more or less in my neighborhood, and loves Buffy.
Now to watch last night's Daily Show.
