Ouise, I probably sold you the ticket for that play. One of the actors was my roommate.
No way! Which one was she? I found out about it (although I evidently didn't get enough information on it) because one or both of them came on Spinsters On Air (translation for non-Haligonians: a radio show I cohosted back in the day on CKDU, our local campus and community station and which I know Sue listened to while I was on it).
And it took the internet for us to actually meet.
JZ!! Question - what do you think of Jack & Kate (from Slings & Arrows) playing Benedick & Beatrice 10 years in the future? Is there another couple that fits them better? I mean, Geoffrey & Ellen were born to play that, definitely, but I'm wondering about those two. Maybe Antonio & Portia from Merchant? Definitely not Shrew.... Perhaps Orsino & Viola from Twelfth Night?
(Sorry, y'all, just burbling here as I'm trying to help someone out. Also, mad craving my S1 DVDs.)
No way! Which one was she?
Her name is Michelle, and she played Hypatia. (I think! it was so long ago.)
Beatrice and Benedick definitely, and Antonio and Portia mos def. And, actually, I can kinda see them possibly pulling off Shrew... one of the deleted scenes on the DVD set shows Jack horsing around and goofily glorying in Shakespearean wordplay in a way that makes you think he's got the range for it.
Others... Miranda and Ferdinand. Rosalind and Orlando. Many, many years later, Leontes and Hermione.
For some reason, the Orsino and Viola in my brain have more of an age difference than Jack and Kate. Whether this corresponds at all to the Orsino and Viola who exist in the actual text, I have no idea.
not that we're planning on providing her with lingerie
What? No trousseau?
In conclusion, I am become boring as all hell.
Nonsense. Nobody who can actually pull off "am become" in this day and age could ever be boring. But you gotta get on that trousseau thing.
A trousseau is one thing, with a set of nice crisp monogrammed sheets and all, but, really, I'm only going to start setting aside lingerie for the Halloweenie if I decide that I need to skeeve her nigh to death at some future point. Lord knows
I
can barely stand the knowledge that my parents are aware that I occasionally need underwear, and I don't even want to think about them thinking about the fact that I occasionally wear it recreationally; I sure as hell don't want them buying me anything that actually qualifies as lingerie.

I just don't know that I could see Kate as Katharina - she's too sweet-faced. Though if anyone could pull it out of her, it'd be Geoffrey.
I thought about Tempest, but they'd be too old 10 years from now, much like As You Like It doesn't quite fit.
Gods, I miss these characters. And I am bereft of both tape and DVD - the tape is lent out, the DVD hasn't shown up yet. Woe.
Timelies all!
Confluence was fun. Spent most of the time in the filk track, but it was good, so that's ok.

Then...come over to our house for a S2 marathon. Or just ask us for a S2 tape. Or an S1 tape for that matter as we have several sitting around.
I already said what I did. Play plus bbq plus normal weekend stuff.
It's insanely steamy out.
