What is even happening?
I saw lots of small kids at PotC: DMC, too. It sort of weirded me out because it was awfully scary for young children but a lot of people just don't seem to care anymore.
I remember when Scott and I went to see Dracula (the Keanu one) years ago, being appalled to see little ones there (not babies either, just old enough to be scared, young enough to not be quiet about it). If I recall correctly, it was a late-ish show, too (9:00pm or after). It's just selfish. It's not fair to the other audience members, and it's not fair to the child. Go see a movie for kids, or go do something else.

I've seen very young kids at R rated thrillers. I don't mind infants (especially sleeping ones). I actually felt sorry for the lady who brought her wee babe into Brokeback Mountain thinking the kid would nurse/sleep through it. He didn't so she got up and left. But when I see someone bring a 3 or 4 year old into a movie with blood, gore, shootouts and graphic sex/violence I just want to slap the parents. I wonder why the theatres even allow them in.

People need to leave the Hemingway cats alone. Jeez.
What is scary or gross to an adult is not necessarily scary or gross to a child. And then, some kids like scary/gross things. I can think of some stuff in PotC that might upset some children, but there's nothing that strikes me as clearly too intense for anyone under 10.
