Here is a cool story for a friday. My brother was flying from DC to San Francisco yesterday and got bumped to first class. The company he works for was bought by another and there have been endless hostile meetings and he and a coworker were on their way to another. They needed tio prep and weren't sitting together, but my bro noticed the Nice Guy next to him was traveling alone and working on a laptop with an iPod and thought he might be amenable to moving. He asked politely and the Nice Guy said no problem and started gathering up his stuff. My Bro was helping him and noticed a couple of other fliers giving him funny looks. It wasn't until the Nice Guy stood up that my bro realized it was Al Gore!
Bro apologized, but Gore was really sweet and said he was planning to work the whole flight, so it didn't matter where he sat. Bro thanked him and said "I bet if I asked the present Vice President, he'd swear at me and then have me thrown off the plane." Gore laughed and said maybe so.
How cool is that and how much of a doofus is my brother?
And...I'm spoiled for this week's Hex. Though it is up for mention, being old in the UK.
Must go watch Matt thing.
That is a fantastic story, Robin!
Robin, that's a really excellent story.
And I just watched the Matt video. Rwanda looked kinda cool, in a enthusiastic kid sort of way.
That is fantastic, Robin!
I sat across the aisle from John Kerry one time (in coach), but there was no interaction, and he wasn't that famous then.
I love
unshelved.
much of my reading comes from the sunday book talks.
I didn't know people were still watching Hex. DH and i watched the 2nd ep a few nights ago. good TIVO. saving everything for me....
and the Gore story is very cool.
Hex is not good. I watch it because I heard this season gets surreal. So far, not much more than last. It's easy to watch when I'm in a migraine daze. I need to have TV just for that.
Da Vinci's Inquest used to be that, but I just watched a two-parter that actually had me riveted (the one with the
shooting of a police officer that turns out to be suicide not a shot from another officer as
suspected). Which is totally cheating. It's supposed to be much more low key.
