We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Yeah yeah, I know. But the fact that the goth community has managed to throw this event 13 times still astonishes me. Goths & organizing tend to be unmixy things.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Emily got some little bugs in her broccoli, I think.

By the way, Emily, I'm picking you up at the airport tomorrow. Send me your flight info.

For those of you keeping score, NYC still hasn't been nuked.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

But are you still alive?

Gus, I see no reason why email reception couldn't be admitted in court. You'd need some statement showing that the email was in the recipient's inbox, and then there would have to be some kind of ruling regarding whether being in someone's inbox and having been opened meant that the recipient could be presumed to have read it and be on notice of its contents.

But the fact that someone received an email? No problem. That is, after all, what all those numbers at the top of the file are--tracking data, yeah?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hey, popsicles were not on the tour!

There was a sign! And I even waved vaguely in that direction, or at least thought about it.

For those of you keeping score, NYC still hasn't been nuked.

YAY!

I'm disputing the chicken soup bullshit, because the person is stating that one can't forge those kinds of relationships online, and well, here we are.

It doesn't say that it can't be done, or even that it isn't done. Honestly, I don't see anything in the survey data that would even distinguish relationships that formed online from those that formed at a YMCA. They're all counted equally, which I think is as it should be.

This

And in the end, she and others pointed out, e-mail or instant messaging is no substitute for face-to-face contact. "E-mailing somebody far way is not the same as them going to pick up your child at daycare or bringing you chicken soup," she said.
says they are not the same. I think that's self-evident. If you truly believe that there is absolutely no difference between chatting online and RW interaction, why do you have F2Fs? Why bring Nilly here? Why do online communities tend to meet in the real world eventually? Why make that effort if it doesn't buy you anything?

There's nothing in there that says online communication is worthless and hollow. It's not equivalent to physical interaction. That leaves plenty of room to say that one may be better in some ways, while worse in others. But they're not the same. I am willing to bet that for most people in this country, online communication is less satisfying, simply because most people aren't even comfortable with the interface. But there are tens of millions of exceptions to that, because "most" doesn't equal "all," and it's a big country.

I dunno. What reads to me as "LD relationships aren't the same as those with people you see regularly" seems to read to you as "nobody can form real relationships online" and... I don't understand how you're getting there.
