And Jesse, I think I'm okay--what I wore today is totally within the standard deviation for me, although I don't usually wear the jacket I wore today, which is what moved it from average to a little dressy. Dunno what I'll do tomorrow, though.
This is always the problem I've had when job searching from a casual office -- even a business-casual one. When I got on the hunt, I took to dressing up more randomly, when I was in the office all day, just to get people used to it.
My poor minion keeps running up against this. My boss knows (and supports) him looking, so she knows when he has an interview anyway. But there are a couple of other VPBs (Very Powerful Busybodies) in my office that make things uncomfortable.
It's way easier in winter, when a dark suit jacket can hide inside a dark coat.
When my suits still comfortably fit (bah!) I'd wear them to work and get asked all the time if I was interviewing or more memorably, if I was going to a funeral. Only the public outreach people and the director's admin staff really dress formally on a regular basis (though I think the latter will change given the new director's version of dressing up is a subdued hawaiian shirt and khakis and his curls more or less brushed...)
Ah man, I'm watching a Frontline that is on Zimbabwe. I'm reminded of what a beautiful and fucked up place it is. I wasn't supposed to go there, but we did. So much potential, and that horrid Mugabe.
eta: When in Harare, we got stuck in a traffic jam. The cause? A motorcade with Mugabe. The vehicles were spiked with machine guns.
I'm trying to remember where I know the journalist, Alexandra Bloom, from.
eta: jeez people. Make me look like the freak I am and don't post.
And now Frontline has a thing on deaths in illegal border crossings. Dad has gone out on three S&R missions where they've found a body. Fucking depressing. All the walls and HS are channelling crossers into NM and really bad AZ desert, much like what happened in the Sanctuary movement (Sanctuary in NM in the eighties included a lot of university or gov't lab folk. They used arpanet to coordinate smuggling, which makes me laugh a whole helluva lot. Including Los Alamos!!)
I, on the other hand, am watching Queer Eye. I haven't seen it in a few years. The guys look so different! Ok. Not that different, but it's like S2 and S5 Buffy.

Let me know if they tell the straight guy "You came back wrong!"
bt, Dude! He's not even straight! They did a gay guy! Now, he's as straight as you can be and still like guys, but still, homosexual!
I am so a child of PBS. How many times have I seen the Pompeii thingie? (OK, and I don't have cable. God only knows what I'd be watching were I to.)
G'night kiddos.
