"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Why can't people drive sensibly?

Having spun out earlier this week while leaving BWI because my friend didn't realize he needed new tires on his car, I can only say I felt pretty stupid without it even being my fault. I can only imagine what drivers like that go through!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Some things can't be avoided ... but when you're on a narrow roadway and decide you're going to try to squeeze past a bus to go through a red light, that's stupidity.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know who are stupid? Dell customer service, and the runarounds I've been on all day trying to make sure my sister's laptop purchase goes through in a timely manner. Seven or so people, six or so different stories.

PLUS the boss's boss asked for a newly organised document, but I have to leave for the doctor in two minutes. I can sure post here while on call with Dell, but actual work is a little more difficult.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

You know who are stupid? Dell customer service, and the runarounds I've been on all day trying to make sure my sister's laptop purchase goes through in a timely manner.

I'm with you there. Every single time I've had to call Dell support I feel like I'd have had a better and more useful time applying a hand drill to my head. Apparently their Enterprise-level support for their servers is a completely different story (as our sysadmins give us funny looks whenever we complain about Dell), but their PC/laptop level support is absolutely terrible.

Mercy is the mark of a great man. [beat] Guess I'm just a good man. [beat] I'm alright.

Happy Birthday JZ!!!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's an impressive level of stupid, Toddson. The "tried to keep going" really puts it over the top.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday JZ!

Still raining here. I'm worried that the impatiens we put in the planters outside the house are going to float away.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

BUT ... this morning the bus I was on got hit by a tour bus when its driver decided to try to go around the (stopped for a red light on a narrow section of stree) bus I was on, hit it, then tried to keep going. Ended with major damage to the Metro bus, the two buses jammed together, and Connecticut Avenue at Dupont Circle totally blocked. No one was hurt ... but the sheer stupidity of the tour bus driver appalls me. bah!

You know, I'm thinking that was a bad driving move regardless of the weather.

I just called back "Robert F" at Capital One, who says he works 9-8, M-R, and left a message. He says he'll get back to me within "24 to 48 business hours." I'm thinking he meant 1-2 business days.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

X-posted from lj:

Ok, hivemind, I need you. My little brother (HS Sophomore) is dating a Mormon (he, himself is toward the Left end of UCC. Basically, last door on the Left of Christianity). He really likes her, but is getting irritated with her habit of trying to convert him (she does not realize or does not acknowledge that she is doing so).

I suggested arguing theology with her. He cited her use of my fav. line ever: "pray on it and it will be revealed to you". Oy.

I suggested trying to convert her back (to Wicca, if I'm being snarky), so that it's forced to consciousness. He said that was mean.

I pointed out my lack of boyfriend, and that perhaps I should ask the 'istas. He agreed, so I'm asking.

Please remember that she's young and he actually wants to continue this relationship (although he has expressed reservations in the past wrt LDS's stance on homosexuality. Go Team Tolerance). Any ideas?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

having dated a mormon, I unfortunately say Run, run far away! Um, that was not the needed advice, was it?

The thing is, I have found that Mormons tend to truly believe that you are going to hell. So if they love you, they want you to be Mormon, so you won't It springs from a generous impulse, but there isn't much getting around it.

My experience was sa an adult with an adult male, however, so maybe just encouraging her to explore different religions that he is interested in, too? Or just asking her to please stop.
