Not much stranger than the spate of late-50s/early-60s "dead teenager" songs. On the Steve Goodman best-of collection I have, there's a hilarious medley he does of those songs ("Tell Laura I Love Her," "Teen Angel," and another one I can't recall offhand) that stemmed from him borrowing a motorcycle helmet from someone in the audience.

I'm taking bets that if we don't get rain for any significant chunk of the summer here in NE, some jackhole is going to comment on what a terrible drought we're having. Said jackhole is very lucky if I don't punch him in the face at that moment.
