(I need to Google and find the meaning behind the pronunciation symbols. I need to do it for a little forever, because I keep needing that, but I never do. Oh, well.)

Nilly, if you go to Dictionary.com and look up a word, after they write out the pronounciation of a word, you'll see a link with the text "Pronounciation Key". If you click that, a little window will pop up that explains the symbols.

Thanks, Cindy! I'm usually using either m-w or answers.com (um, when I'm not looking straight for an Hebrew translation, or when the English-Hebrew dictionaries fail, which happens more often than not, sadly enough). Now, I have another link.

I had just assumed callipygian was derived from Calypso, Odysseus' lover, and pronounced it accordingly.

Oh the semester ended in May, but now I am teaching summer school because we could use the extra cash.

We are all fine. The kids are very big, and Franny is quite a talker. How are you doing these days?

It's funny how you're already teachng the summer semester, while our spring (is that how you call it?) semester still has two more weeks to go.

Those schedules are different for different schools, in the USA, right? Here we have one date for elementary school (summer vacation starts on the 1st of July), another of high school (summer vacation starts on the 21st of June), and the universities change their date each year, according to when they could start the schoolyear (after the Jewish holidays that usually occupy September-October).

Franny is quite a talker

I can imagine that, but I can't really wrap my head around it. I mean, a baby who wasn't even born yet when I got to hold her (a son of a good friend) is now learning to speak, so obviously she's way ahead of him, but still.

As for me, it's the usual the-semester-ends-soon craziness. I really shouldn't be posting now. But other than that, the usual, in the good sense of "the usual".
