Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I know a kid whose parents spoke French and Spanish to him at home (his mother is French, his father is Spanish) and went to an English preschool. (At the point when he started preschool, his parents weren't sure whether they'd be staying in the US long-term, but they knew they wanted him to speak French and Spanish, so they figured that, if they did stay in the US, he'd pick up English from teachers and other kids and TV.) For awhile, when he met a new adult, he'd try French, then try Spanish, then give up if neither was understood. With other kids, though, he'd speak in English. It took him a while to understand that English wasn't just a kids language.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Turns out, ongoing credit fraud is NOT an awesome way to end your first week of work. FYI. In case anyone was thinking about trying it out.

One new account, that I actually think I saw on my credit report, and had on my to-do list, but hadn't gotten around to calling. Eh.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ick. I was hoping you were done with that, Jesse.

I am not understanding the point system in the Group rounds of the World Cup and I can't find an explanation anywhere.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I continue to be fairly zen about the whole thing, although when I called HSBC back and the guy right away asked for my social security number and mother's maiden name, I was like HELL NO. I did give him the SSN, but still.

You get 3 pts for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. If there is a tie among teams in a particular group, it goes to goal differential (the total you scored in all three matches minus how many were scored against you), then total goals scored in all three matches.
