Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I continue to be fairly zen about the whole thing, although when I called HSBC back and the guy right away asked for my social security number and mother's maiden name, I was like HELL NO. I did give him the SSN, but still.

I am not understanding the point system in the Group rounds of the World Cup and I can't find an explanation anywhere.

You get 3 pts for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. If there is a tie among teams in a particular group, it goes to goal differential (the total you scored in all three matches minus how many were scored against you), then total goals scored in all three matches.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Thanks, megan. That's what I thought, but then the announcers confused me by saying "That should get them the whole 3 pts" for a second goal, making me think the goal differential came in earlier or something.

Yeah, that threw me too, and then I realized they were just talking about the impossibility of a draw at that point.

That makes sense. If I actually listened to the announcers rather than just catching a sentence out of context every once in a while, I probably would have figured that out.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

ah ... years ago the World Cup matches were being played in the DC area and I remember something about how the Mexican team hadn't won but were going on to the next level, which didn't make much sense to me at the time. I do remember, vividly, what seemed like hundreds of very happy Mexicans all over town.
