I've been to the Parthenon in Nashville, and saw the Athena--it's very cool!! (It was with a F2F with the board I was in before I discovered Salon and Table Talk.) We stayed in the Holiday Inn across the street from Centennial Park, and so were able to walk over and check it out. Also, the downtown is very cool to walk around, there's tons of great music and food, and it's well situated with transportation options (planes, trains, and automobiles).

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

They've seen bigger spectacles than us. Dollywood has its annual Out at the Park day as part of East Tennessee Pride Week in early June—imagine Gay Day at a Disneyworld owned by Liza Minelli.

Basically, it puts West Tennessee Pride Week to SHAME.

So Out at Graceland day isn't all that?

If anyone could pull off a sequened jumpsuit these days you'd think it would be them!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Dollywood might have some entertainment value, but Pigeon Forge is a zoo in the summer. The crowds are awful.

I'm personally not thrilled with the idea of Nashville, because my family is there, and I drive to Nashville frequently. Also, did I mention that my family is there? There is a lot to do, though. It's definitely a car town, so we'd need a hotel downtown or around Vanderbilt/Music Row.

I always love Chicago. I really liked Kansas City, but the last time I was there was for MidAmeriCon. The older fannish types among you can do the math.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Lawrence is VERY fun, and my SIL is an event planner there and could probably help, if we wanted to do that.

Seriously?

Okay, I second my own motion for Lawrence, or rather, make it more serious. Because that's way cool. Sure, no Buffistas, but a Buffista-in-law!

Seriously?

Oh, absolutely! She's fantastic.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

If it's Lawrence, I'm definitely in. If I have to road trip it.

But isn't the Lawrence from which your fannishness arises really Vancouver?

Which would also be an awesome place to F2F. Of course, Kansas means my in-laws and Vancouver means my cousin, so I might be biased.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Ooooh. Vancouver.
