Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Seanie, she's a designer. These things are bound to happen.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

deb, most Sharpies are non-toxic, so the kitty ought to be fine.

Non-toxic to humans is not necessarily non-toxic to animals. And in any case, would you be willing to scribble all over your own tongue with it? Revel in the taste? Allow someone you trust to scribble all over your tongue with it? Cats wash themselves.

Jesus. Outta here for a while.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

How about write on my hands and then eat with them, because both willing and have. And, while I wouldn't on my tongue because it likely wouldn't tase very good, my only concern with having it on my lips would be that it would be there for an embarassingly long time.

Hadn't really thought about the licking part, I admit. My curiousity about what it looked like got me first; I'm not actually a proponent of artificially coloring animals. The request for a photo was pretty crass on my part - sorry, Sean.

I actually think it's funny, and it's in a place he can't lick, nor easily groom. I'm sure he'll be fine, I don't think the request for photos was crass, and I fully plan on posting them later tonight.

How do you feel about painting a dog?

I probably be opposed to that, but in Ollie's case, it will probably be good for him.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I probably be opposed to that, but in Ollie's case, it will probably be good for him.

You should paint his balls with Ritalin so he gets his daily dose.

Phew! OK, good, I'm glad I didn't offend you.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I'm not a cat/pet person, but I gotta say that I agree with Deb on this. I mean, if the cat had marked himself with the sharpie, that would be funny, but why deliberately color the cat?

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

why deliberately color the cat?
I think only Sean's GF, who isn't on the board, could answer that. IIRC Sean had specifically told her not to.

Anyway, Sean, I did some research just to make sure, and (although perhaps humiliating) the Sharpie does not seem to be harmful to pets, even if ingested. I thought you'd want to know in case you were worried about the kitty. Obviously I hope S. chooses not to do it again, but I was relieved to see that there's no harm done.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Actually, my flatmate did the same thing a few months ago, with paint. I went ballistic, but the cat was fine, and I felt like a bit of an eejit for overreacting. In retrospect, I feel a bit more entitled to go ballistic, because although the cat was fine, it could have been A Bad Thing.

Anyway, I'm sure that S wouldn't have done this with any conscious intention of harming the kitty, any more than I think my flatmate did, and I'm relieved to hear that Sharpie ink isn't dangerous to pets.
