why deliberately color the cat?
I think only Sean's GF, who isn't on the board, could answer that. IIRC Sean had specifically told her not to.
Anyway, Sean, I did some research just to make sure, and (although perhaps humiliating) the Sharpie does not seem to be harmful to pets, even if ingested. I thought you'd want to know in case you were worried about the kitty. Obviously I hope S. chooses not to do it again, but I was relieved to see that there's no harm done.
Actually, my flatmate did the same thing a few months ago, with paint. I went ballistic, but the cat was fine, and I felt like a bit of an eejit for overreacting. In retrospect, I feel a bit more entitled to go ballistic, because although the cat was fine, it
could
have been A Bad Thing.
Anyway, I'm sure that S wouldn't have done this with any conscious intention of harming the kitty, any more than I think my flatmate did, and I'm relieved to hear that Sharpie ink isn't dangerous to pets.
I remember when I was little I'd put doll clothes on our cat ... which was actually more dangerous for my health than hers.
Very glad to hear that toxicity is a non-issue. And, as much as I love and adore cats, I'd have to assume that taste would be a non-issue as well, given that these are creatures fully capable of (whitefonted for extreme yet depressingly routine feline grossness)
eating everything from bugs to their own vomit to their stillborn offspring, and who can happily spend 20 minutes at a time licking their own assholes.
"Overrefined supertaster" is not the first phrase that comes to mind when one ponders what a cat might or might not find palatable.
"He's been licking his asshole for the last three straight hours. I submit to you that there is nothing there worth more than an hour's attention. I should think that whatever he is attempting to dislodge is either gone for good, or there to stay. Wouldn't you agree?"
what movie was that, Aimee?
Can almost hear it, and yet?
It was 'Long Kiss Goodnight'
Pete gets it one.
I love that movie. It was the first money we bought on DVD.
Money comes on DVD now? Is there Treasurer's commentary?
A speech about protracted asshole licking in a movie called
Long Kiss Goodnight
may have driven Super Porny Pants from the planet.

This is good news. Miss Wiggly Dog and I are going to the vet in a few weeks and I want to be sure he feels the infintesimal bumps that I do -- so I'm planning on putting a bright mark near them.
