[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And still -- I'm pretty sure what Leise was reacting to (and what I know for sure I reacted to) was the implication that people who watch Fox News can't tell the difference between "news" and commercials.

What is even happening?

Hey guys. It's funny, I'm looking at the user IDs on the posters these days, and it's all either OG folks or newer people--but there's a vast middle ground of people who just registered at some sort of tipping point but didn't become regulars. Not that I'm coming to any kind of point, but I thought it was interesting. And great to see so many familiar faces!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Not meaning to prolong this, but..well, yes. And I don't really see a problem there. I'm sure I've expressed (and I do believe) similar sentiments. Fox News /= all people who identify as repubs or conservatives. It's a particular subset who either believe or pretend to believe some pretty patently out there shit.

ETA, naturally, no offense meant to Liese, or to the idea that we need to be civil. But if we can't riff on Fox News I think we're taking it a little far.

Ack! I see your point Topic!Cindy, I personally aplogize to Liese S. as I can see how my comment could be taken as a personal attack on them. I did not intend it that way.

(I was totally going for the good natured snarky comment)

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

I tend to not be offended by the political posts here, but i do feel the need to point out that my father watches Fox News and he's neither stupid nor a crackpot. mostly he watched Hannity and Colmes while my mother and i roll our eyes.

Okay, that's good. Thank you for taking what I said so well, Colin.

stupid typos.

Well, when you're the spawn of a crackpot and and eyeroller, you're only going to have so much hand-eye coordination.

(yes, snarko)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, first, thanks to Colin for the apology & to Cindy for the defense. Glad to know that, indeed, it wasn't meant personally. I appreciate that.

Next, as to the original issue, I want to assert that I don't intend to squelch anyone's Fox News mockery, and in fact, reserve the right to mock it myself. I don't think Fox News should have protected status. WRT brenda's point, you're right about the subset and I was the only one generalizing there. Riff away.

That said, I stand by the original comment, which Jesse rightly pointed out, was more about the implication that all Fox News viewers were stupid. They aren't. I do want to make sure the boards and this thread in particular stay accessible to all sorts of fans, but not at the cost of making people not post what they're thinking. I think in general we do a decent job.

Third, I was cranky last night. I probably shouldn't have posted at all, but, see above, re: cranky. Kevin's comment was intended as a joke, and I normally would have just read it as such, and it all would have been fine.

So, explanations done, let me just say I apologize. I'm sorry.

Lastly, jengod!!?! Sorry for kerfluffling in your delurk!

Questions for actors will follow.
